Meet Your Blogger: A Guy Who Loves Golf (Even When It Doesn't Love Him Back)
My name is Zeke Stout, a 6’7”, fully tattooed, bearded Sasquatch of a golfer, and I’m the proud founder of Dilligolf. Its a play on the military word Dilligaf (google it) and your soon-to-be favorite destination for golf entertainment and apparel that ranges from the traditional to the downright wild. You might be wondering what inspired me to dive into the world of golf. Well, it all started with two influential figures in my life: my grandfather, affectionately known as "Big Daddy," and my uncle Matt. Both Scratch golfers who loved and love the game.
I dabbled in golf as a kid, trying to keep up with these two legends, but honestly, I was more of a jack-of-all-sports. Basketball, lacrosse, football, and track were my jams. Golf? Not so much but I did love it. Competing with others on the golf course was tough, and I never quite got the proverbial bug. But life has a funny way of coming full swing. Damnit another pun.
Recently, my son took up golf seriously and even made his school team. At 13, he's already kicking my butt on the course! My current handicap is a 15.1, and let's just say he's a lot better than that. I can't keep up with him on the basketball court anymore—this old body gets sore quick! But golf? That's something we can do together.
From TV Shows to Tee Times
Before diving into Dilligolf, I had the pleasure of hosting a show on the Discovery Channel called "Master of Arms." I also had my own radio show and podcasts. Now, I’m bringing those same talents to the golf world with Dilligolf, turning it into a golf entertainment brand. It's a perfect blend of my love for media and golf, and it's something my son and I can enjoy together.
On our YouTube channel, Dilligolf, you can expect to see celebrities, athletes, and anyone who loves golf joining us for a round. You in? Send us a message on IG and we can make it happen. We'll be doing interviews right from the cart paths, mixing golf with great conversations and lots of laughs. I'm not the best golfer, but interviewing and having fun? I’m on it.
The Mental Game: Golf's Unexpected Addiction
Taking my son out for a few rounds of golf opened my eyes to the mental aspect of the game. Maybe it's maturity, aka old age, but I found myself getting hooked. Golf became less about competing with others and more about competing with myself. Every round, every shot, was a chance to get a little better.
It's about getting over the bad shots and just keeping at it, no matter how many swings it takes. It is very much a metaphor of life within a game. No matter how much bad comes at you just keep going and you get a little better each time. There's something incredibly addictive about that. It’s a journey of self-improvement, patience, and persistence—values I hope to share with you through Dilligolf.
So, welcome to Dilligolf, where we blend the love of golf with a flair for fun and style. Whether you're here for the clothes, the laughs, or the inspiring stories, we're glad to have you. Now, let’s hit the fairways and enjoy the ride!
Stay tuned, keep swinging, and remember: it’s not about the score, it’s about the journey.
